The Humber Golf Lab is offering slightly used individual clubs and sets for sale.

Golf clubs include the TaylorMade Stealth driver for $320, Stealth woods at $160, Stealth 2 driver for $400, Stealth 2 woods for $200 and the Stealth 2 Hybrid at $120.

“It’s the first time we’re making it well known that we have stuff for sale, whether it’s full sets or individual clubs,” said Arruda, a golf lab attendant at Humber.

“So there’s some older stuff that’ll be on the cheaper side, there’s some stuff that’s in the last two or three years that’ll be going for roughly three hundred dollars for a single club and upwards of over a thousand for larger sets,” Arruda said.

Arruda said there are TaylorMade Stealth and TaylorMade Stealth 2 clubs on sale right now, including some Titleist TSi clubs and interchangeable clubs.

“Retail prices for new drivers are about $850 or $900, so a lot of the stuff we have available is tying in to be in that $300 range for newer products,” he said.

“They do have sales that you know might be four, five, $600 for previous models, but we’re hoping that the ability to come in and save some money but also try here on campus and support the school someway would be a cool factor,” Arruda said.

He said students would benefit by saving money up-front.

“So if they like certain ones, certain club heads and a different shaft, they can swap them out here. That’s a little bit more difficult at a retail store because they got to match SKU codes,” Arruda said.

He said the lab is "not here to really make money" but to help golfers out.

Andrew Vento, the program coordinator of the golf management program at Humber, said golf club sales happen usually once a year, where they sell clubs that aren’t being used as much.

“As we move through and get new golf clubs in, we sell the clubs that we have been using that are re-used for demonstration purposes,” he said.

“Right now we’re doing it because the golf equipment manufacturer companies are launching their new equipment, their new drivers…they launch them this time of the year, so we’ll be bringing in some new equipment in the next couple of weeks,” Vento said.

“So this is a time where we sell a lot of our older equipment,” he said.

Vento said the clubs are still in good condition, due to them being used on the indoor golf simulator.

“Right now we probably have about 20 drivers and fairway metals available for purchase,” he said.

Students can inquire about the golf clubs they’re interested in and purchase them.

“I think it’s important because, especially for our program, it’s nice to have those options available,” said Hayden Liberty, a student in the professional golf management program at Humber.

“If anybody comes in and they’re not a golfer already, it’s very easy for them to kind of get into the game more because we have the materials and equipment here for them to grab, use and purchase if need be,” he said.

Liberty said he has been golfing for the last five to six years and is potentially going to buy a new club at Humber.

“A new hybrid would fit nicely in my bag so I've definitely been trying out a few things here and I think leading towards my birthday coming up as well might be a good idea to kind of get one for that so we’ll see,” he said.

The next golf club sale is planned to be in the fall semester.

Students can try out the golf clubs inside the golf simulator rooms, located in C109 between Mondays and Fridays from 8:30 a.m. to 7:30 p.m.
