Hawks hockey remains undefeated with win against Georgian

The Humber Hawks men’s outdoor hockey team continued their dominance with an 8-3 victory over the Georgian Grizzlies on Wednesday, Feb. 12, at Sunnydale Acres Park.

With this win, the Hawks remain undefeated at 4-0 in tournament play. They have defeated teams like Georgian, McMaster, Sheridan, and Laurier among others this season.

Humber set the tone early, controlling the pace and creating scoring opportunities. Their offensive pressure and disciplined defence kept Georgian from mounting any serious comeback attempts.

The Hawks capitalized on turnovers and executed their game plan effectively. Their strong play reaffirmed their status as one of the top teams in the league.

Tyler Rutledge (9) made an impact, finishing the game with two points. He notched a goal and an assist, contributing to Humber’s dominant performance.

The Hawks showcased their depth and chemistry, with multiple players stepping up. Their ability to distribute scoring made them difficult to defend throughout the game.

Coach Dave Eccleston praised the team’s effort and execution. He highlighted their commitment to playing as a unit and maintaining their high level of intensity.

“This team plays hard every single game,” Eccleston said. “They trust each other, stick to the plan, and bring their best every time they step on the ice.”

Looking ahead, Eccleston stressed the importance of staying focused. He knows that continuing their winning streak will require consistency and effort from the entire roster.

“We have to keep playing together,” he said. “Every game is another opportunity to improve, and we want to keep building towards something bigger.”

Captain Evan Spencer (8) reflected on the victory and the team’s progress this season.

“We’ve built something special here,” Spencer said. “Every game, we show up and push each other to be better. That’s what makes this team so strong.”

Spencer emphasized the team’s chemistry and their shared commitment to winning.

“There’s a lot of trust in this locker room,” he said. “We know that if we play our game, we can compete with anyone.”

Rutledge also reflected on his performance and the team’s success. He credited his teammates for their support and the strong chemistry they’ve built throughout the season.

“We play for each other,” Rutledge said. “It’s not about one player—it’s about everyone contributing and doing their job. That’s why we’re winning.”

As the Hawks prepare for their next challenge, they remain focused and determined. Their strong teamwork and discipline will be crucial as they continue their season.

The Hawks know they will face tough competition ahead. However, they are embracing the challenge and proving they are one of the teams to beat.

Their next tournament is against La Cité from March 26-27 for Provincials in Montreal, where they will look to continue their undefeated run.
