The Humber Hawks women’s volleyball team continues to dominate the court, showing no signs of slowing down.
The Hawks swept the Niagara Knights 3-0 on Jan. 15, extending their winning streak to 14. They carried that momentum into their next match, securing a 3-1 win over Conestoga on Jan. 18, on the road, pushing their record to an astounding 15-0.
Humber’s aggressive yet disciplined play overwhelmed both opponents, cementing their place as one of the top teams in the country, ranking fourth overall. Their latest victories further solidify their dominance and showcase their ability to maintain consistency in high-pressure situations.
Outside hitter Hannah Manners was a key contributor in the match against Niagara, leading the team with 10 kills, just one attack error, and 25 total attempts. Her sharp, focused play continues to be a driving force in Humber’s unbeaten run.
“It’s a game-by-game thing, and I think we played really well tonight,” head coach Chris Wilkins said following the team’s win over Niagara. “We kept rolling, and you know, undefeated is undefeated.”
Wilkins also emphasized the importance of team unity and the supportive atmosphere that has fuelled Humber’s success this season.
“Humber’s a family, you know? We all feed off of each other’s success,” Wilkins said. “And you just watch the other teams, the fans are cheering for us, the girls will be cheering for the guys and the guys cheering for the girls. It’s really a great feeling.”
Manners echoed her coach’s sentiments, highlighting the team’s bond and the role Humber’s fans have played in their success.
“Our team chemistry is what makes us so strong,” Manners said. “We push each other to be better every day, and that’s what keeps us going. We’re not just playing for wins—we’re playing for each other.”
She also credited the fans for their energy and dedication.
“The support from our fans at Humber is unreal,” she said. “They bring the energy every game, and it makes a huge difference for us on the court. We feed off that excitement, and it pushes us to play at our best.”
The Hawks have developed a reputation for their relentless play style, blending strong offence with a rock-solid defence that makes it difficult for opponents to gain any momentum. Their ability to stay composed under pressure has been a defining factor in their success.
As they move forward, Humber is keenly aware of the challenges ahead. Maintaining their undefeated streak will require continuous improvement, focus, and teamwork. With each win, the target on their back grows larger, but the Hawks remain undeterred.
“This season is about pushing each other to be better every day,” Manners said. “We’re proving what we’re capable of, and we don’t plan on slowing down anytime soon.”
With their undefeated record intact, the Hawks remain focused as they prepare for their next matchup. They are determined to continue their dominance and prove they are a force to be reckoned with this season.
