At the Etobicoke North Liberal party, employees were are working in the dark, unsure if the event will happen tonight.
John Zerucelli, the Liberal candidate for Etobicoke North is hosting his party at the Elite Banquet Halls and Convention Centre, on Albion road.
The power has been out since about 5:30 p.m., with people losing hope.
At 9 p.m. after setting up, some people sat to wait in their car, hoping for power to come back on. While others left the event entirely.
Gurpreet Nijjar, one of the AV technicians at the event said he hopes the light comes back.
"Hopefully the power does come back, so the event goes smoothly and just so everyone has a good time tonight," Nijjar said.
At 9:39 p.m. the power came back on with the lights flickering, then eventually steady.
Power has been restored and people are slowly flooding in shortly after.
Supporters have been rewarded for waiting patiently in their vehicles for the past hour as the generator kicked in.
The building isn't fully operational but the AV team is still preparing to start the night with what they have.
"The lights are going up and down and the projectors aren't working," Nijjar said.
Nijjar said there were three streets affected by the power outage, but this is the first time the power has been out this long.
At 10:15 p.m., attendees were told wifi would be back on shortly, with hopes of people staying for the final results.
The generator at the centre is from Ajax, which someone from the city was able to bring a replacement from there.
At 10:45 p.m., attendees are eating in the dark, as the generator still didn't kick in.
